Car Problems?
I developed this blog page to help people with less complex car issues. Maybe it's not necessary to have a mechanic check out your vehicle. Maybe you can fix it yourself. The articles below are not meant to make a mechanic out of you but simply save you some time and money for things you can do at home, or, at the very least, improve your understanding of your vehicle. If you're still uncomfortable fixing the small stuff, please bring your car to us and we will be glad to help you!
What do I do if my car does not start?
There are a few things you can do when your vehicle does not start before deciding to tow it to our shop.
The (2) most likely causes of no starts are battery and starter. Here’s how to tell which one it is.

-
If it’s a slow crank followed by a clicking noise it's most likely the battery. As well if it’s a battery the lights will be dim or off and you’re not likely to hear the chime noise when you put in the key in the ignition.
-
If there’s no crank, and no start there’s a good chance the vehicle needs a starter.
If it’s the battery there are 2 common fixes:
-
Boost the battery – then once the vehicle is running look to see if something was left on. With a strong alternator, the battery will recharge when you are driving the car.
-
Change the battery and again check to see if something was left on as well as have the charging system checked. A bad alternator may have caused the battery to drain.
If the vehicle needs a starter, unless you’re capable of checking the starter signal and replacing the starter it’s best to have the car towed to us.

Less likely causes of a no-start are:

-
Fuel pump – In which case the vehicle will crank continuously with no start. Once it starts clicking you have drained the battery.

-
Engine problem – once the car is running most likely the engine light will be on and the code will give you an indication of the problem.

In both cases, it’s recommended to have a professional check it out.
If in doubt have the car towed to us. We will test all systems and repair/replace necessary components.
